The Nigerian military has initiated a major operation to tackle the emerging terror group known as "Lukarawa," following a surge in violence in Sokoto and Kebbi states. Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede, visited Sokoto to assess the situation and boost the morale of troops deployed in the region. Lukarawa, which has connections to jihadi factions in Mali and Niger, has been attracting local youth through financial incentives and extremist ideologies. In response to the escalating threat, the Nigerian Army and Air Force have mobilised forces to the affected areas, launching airstrikes and ground operations under "Operation Fasan Yamma" to dislodge this dangerous group.
